RESEARCH TOPIC: SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING /BEHAVIOR

Upon doing my research on social and emotional behavior, I came across the definition that goes as follows; social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. As I have been teaching the 7th grade, I have noticed all the different characteristics of social and emotional learning. As 7th graders they have many mixed emotions, parents are absent in their lives, friendships come and go, be able to be aware of their actions, and loving their self is all apart of being a 7th grader. It gets tough. Self-awareness , like identifying emotions, recognizing strengths and needs, and developing a growth mindset
