Assignment: evaluation and implementation of evidence-based practices | EDSD 7073 – Designing Specialized Instruction for Diverse Learners | Walden University

Imagine this scenario: Over the past several years, large immigrant populations have moved into your community. Parents and other community stakeholders attend a school board meeting questioning board members regarding how the school is responding to the diverse needs of the students and families that attend the public schools in your community. They are questioning what types of culturally responsive trainings and strategies are being implemented to meet the diverse needs of all students. For this Assignment, you will design a pamphlet for the school board, constituents, parents, and stakeholders, identifying the school’s practice in using evidence-based, culturally responsive teaching practices to cater to the learning needs of diverse learners.

To prepare:

· Review the module’s Learning Resources.

· Review the Appendix B: Checklist from the U.S. Department of Education’s Identifying and Implementing Educational Practices Supported by Rigorous Evidence article in the Learning Resources.

· Consider the diverse learners within your classroom, school, and community.

· Think about the information staff members would need to reference when selecting and implementing evidence-based, culturally responsive teaching practices for diverse learners. How might you present this information at a school board meeting to parents, constituents, and other stakeholders?

Create a pamphlet providing information for parents, board members, and stakeholders defining and describing the evidence-based, culturally responsive teaching practices being implemented at the school. The pamphlet should address the following:

· Strong, reliable evidence to support the teaching practices

· Evidence-based, culturally responsive teaching practices that encourage multicultural viewpoints and the inclusion of knowledge relevant to the students’ needs and abilities

· Identification of teaching practices that bridge cultural differences through effective communication and that are reflective of students’ backgrounds
