Module 1: Introduction and Learning Goals – Thesis Statement & Focus

 The Thesis Statement is the guiding principle of any formal academic writing, including the doctoral dissertation. It is the purpose statement that both reflects and guides your research. The Thesis Statement is a work in progress, a statement you formulate toward the beginning of your reading and writing, and a statement that undergoes frequent edits as the review of the literature progresses.  The Thesis Statement will reflect both the focus of doctoral student’s ministry practice as well as the related research. A carefully worded Thesis Statement reflects important conclusions drawn in the process of writing a D.Min. Dissertation. Module One will explore the issues related to the ongoing development of a Thesis Statement.
