Discussion Assignment Instructions

The student will complete 3 Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 800 words, but not more than 1000 words and a biblical integration section, with a verse, by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned Module: Week. The student must then post one Reply of at least 500 words, but not more than 600 words, by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the assigned Module: Week. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 2 scholarly citation(s) in APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include the textbook, article, video, the Bible, and other scholarly sources.

Discussion Thread: President Johnson’s 1964 Civil Rights Speech

After viewing the assigned Learn items, and using your own experiences, training, upbringing, and Christian World View, please discuss the following questions:

· If you are old enough to have grown up in the 1960’s, what do you remember from the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?

· If you did not grow up in the 1960’s or are the child of a parent who grew up in the 1960s, is there something you can relate to regarding the tenants of the Civil Rights Act?

· Please discuss the critical tenants, especially the Right to Vote for all Americans, the Rights against Discrimination because of one’s Race, [Color], because of one’s Gender, because of one’s National Origin [ethnicity], and because of one’s Religion [Creed].

· How have you experienced and applied the tenants of the 1964 Civil Rights Act? If so, please give a small example and incorporate it into your Discussion Post or Reply
