Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

Response 1- Michelle

As far as instructional practices related to educational research, there are many evidence-based practices that are used on a daily basis. Evidence-based practices are in place to help guide educators in modern systems and techniques used for how our students are learning and gaining knowledge. These practices are very important because they really help us understand what teaching strategies are effective and which ones are not. With classroom curriculum being an integral part of educating our students, it is no wonder why it is probably the most used evidence-based practice. Interventions are another practice that are used as a strategy to help students who are struggling and need to get back to progressing and showing growth. Another great practice is professional development. This gives educators the tools needed to continue growth in their teaching, different methods of teaching, data collecting, learning styles of students and much more.

Scientific inquiry is important to educational research because it is a form of problem solving and questioning so we collect the best research that provides the best practices for our students. Scientific inquiry consists of asking questions, testing your hypothesis, making connections, finding evidence, collecting data, coming to a conclusion, and then sharing your finding with your colleagues. It is basically showing proof that a practice is working or doesn’t work. It will give you proof, or it will show you holes.

Response 2- Angie

What evidenced-based practices can you identify within your understanding of educational research as it relates to instructional practices? Why is scientific inquiry important to educational research? How does scientific inquiry lead to the better understanding of research and interpreting data?

Working in education, evidence-based practices are used every day to ensure positive outcomes when it comes to student success. This method helps determine which interventions have been successful and which can be discontinued or modified in the future for better outcomes. Collecting such data is helpful because it helps us determine what is better to support our student needs. We want our staff members to feel supported and put in place the best practices for student success.

Scientific inquiry is vital to ensure that all educators understand the reasoning behind each intervention and be able to develop deeper understanding of questions that may arise. When working in education you become a lifelong learner because things are changing every day and new data is constantly being presented so we must stay up to date in order for our students to receive the best education possible and be able to succeed. By gathering data, we will be able to collaborate with others and see what can better serve our community of students and put in place appropriate interventions that fit with our group of students.
