requirement:

Conduct primary or secondary (scholarly literature) research to discover the answer to

a question related to human resource management in the global marketplace. At least

10 sources must be used. Seven of these sources must be academic/scholarly or

primary research sources. The following five steps outline the project.

1. Choose a topic relevant to the content covered in MBA 552.

2. Outline a research thesis statement or research question.

3. Research the selected topic.

4. Create a literature review and reference list.

5. Deliver a 15-minute presentation summarizing the research.

Students will submit the following three deliverables for the research project.

1. Prepare a reference list in APA format detailing research sources. The list should

include a minimum of 10 sources, 7 of which are scholarly/academic sources.

2. Write a literature review summarizing the research on the selected thesis

statement/research question. The literature review should be between 1200-

1500 words. Use APA format for the literature view. Refer to “How to Write a

Stellar Literature Review” (https://www.grammarly.com/blog/literature-review/)

for guidance. Begin your literature review with a short introduction to your topic.

Include a clearly stated thesis statement with an outline of the topic.

3. Create a 15-minute presentation of the research results. The presentation should

begin with the thesis statement/research question followed by a logical

discussion of the research. The end of the presentation should provide

conclusions of the research. How did the findings support the thesis statement?

PowerPoint slides should be used to aid you in communicating the key points of

research and conclusions. You can either record and upload your presentation

or schedule an in-person presentation with the professor. If posting a link to your

presentation the video should include both you and the slides. Please don’t just

produce voice-over slides.

Use the following support sources to ensure the deliverables are of the highest quality.

§ Refer to the link in Moodle ”APA Guidelines” for formatting a paper in APA. APA

guidelines can be found at:

https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_a

nd_style_guide/general_format.html

The research project will be graded on the following points.

§ Is the content logical from a strong thesis statement to a supporting body to a

well-developed conclusion?

§ The quality of the research will be considered heavily in grading. Were sufficient

and reliable scholarly resources used? Ten sources, seven of them being

academic/scholarly, are the minimum. Adherence to the minimum will not

produce A-level work. Be aware of how current your resources are. If your topic

is dependent on recent developments then your sources should be published in

the last few years.

§ Was the HRM topic relevant to the course material? Is this a topic we discussed

in class? If you are in doubt please get prior approval for your thesis.

§ The quality of the writing of the literature review will be evaluated. Papers should

be carefully proofread to ensure proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

§ The effectiveness and clarity of the presentation will be a large part of the grade.

Did you begin with a strong, well-stated thesis statement? Did you research

support your thesis statement? Did you draw summaries and conclusions from

your research? Did you end stating additional areas of research that may be

interesting to study on this topic
